Good news for the future of freedom in South Dakota, as the LPSD has grown by 30% in registered voters in the previous 12 months!! Voters tired of the two party system and one party rule here in South Dakota have continued to trickle in, even months after the 2020 Presidential election.
As of today August 11th 2021, there are now officially 2,574 registered Libertarians in South Dakota. (Screenshot below from sdsos.gov)
In this same 12 month period the Republican Party has gained 6.9%, the Democratic Party has gained 2.4% and Independents/NoPartyAffiliation gained 9.2% in voter registrations. That officially makes the Libertarian Party of South Dakota the fastest growing Political Party percentage wise over 12 months. Although the numbers are nowhere near their competitors yet, the LPSD has had consistent growth in registrations since regaining ballot access in 2016.
In 2016 when the LPSD regained ballot access it had just 1,351 registered Libertarians in South Dakota, with today’s total of 2,574 that makes it a 90.5% increase in just 5 years. With last years slate of candidates receiving some of the highest voter percentages in Party history we look forward to seeing what is in store for 2022.
